Antler sculpture created at SFAI by artist, Suzanne Torres
An Object of Desire
wood, cement, twine, porcelain, nails
32 x 47 x 23 in.
2011

An Object of Desire examines contradiction in our survival mechanisms and defenses. Here, the antlers sheer scale provides opportunity to procreate by battling other males and simultaneously the likelihood of becoming a trophy. The antlers, therefore, become a paradox. They are at the same time the demise and symbol of survival for the animal.
